For some reason I never outwardly remember when his birthday is, yet, for years I have an unintentional pattern where I end up rereading one his books around the end of February, beginning of March (This year it was Play the Piano Drunk...).  And, I don&#039;t remember his birthday until I get to the same author page in the back of the book.  I really like these lines:

and now sometimes I’m interviewed, they want to hear about
life and literature and I get drunk and hold up my cross-eyed,
shot, runover de-tailed cat and I say,”look, look
