Black Hole

Our local library doesn’t have the best collection in a lot of ways, but for some reason they’re stocked with good graphic novels. One of the last I picked up was Charles Burns’ Black Hole, about a sexually transmitted plague afflicting a gang of small town teenagers. I was pretty skeptical going into it, but the mix of murder, class warfare, alienation, and, of course, sexual disease manifesting itself in grotesque and bizarre growths, was more than I could resist.

And now a photographer has recreated some of the human oddities with live models. Which you should look at, if that’s the sort of thing you like to look at. (Hint: the following is the tamest thing you’ll find.)
