I have yet to read the new book by Mickey Z., Self Defense for Radicals. Which is kind of embarrassing, considering my interest in the subject, and the fact that it’s published by PM Press, which is also publishing my first novel.
Part of that has to do with my being leery of those who advise unarmed — as opposed to armed — self defense, but I’m pretty sure that’s not a concern, except as a practical matter. I’ve never heard anything to suggest that Mickey Z is anti-gun at all. In fact, from what I can tell, his political bent is pretty close to mine.
Even better, it looks like the book is an attempt to cultivate a self defense mindset among radicals, as well as to connect personal self defense to the political variety — two things that make a lot of sense to me.
I’m gonna have to find a copy.
